Photography gear can quickly become overwhelming, especially when you want to be ready for any shooting situation. Choosing the right bags and organizing your equipment efficiently makes a huge difference. Recently, I upgraded to two Oberwerth bags: a black Q backpack and a green Momentum S messenger bag. These bags are crafted from the finest leather and offer exceptional quality and style. Here, I share what I carry in these bags, focusing on my camera gear essentials and how I keep everything ready for the next shoot.

Choosing Oberwerth Bags for Photography

Oberwerth bags stand out for their craftsmanship and durability. The leather feels premium and ages beautifully, which appeals to photographers who want their gear bags to last for years. The black Q backpack is perfect for carrying heavier gear comfortably, while the Momentum S messenger bag in green offers quick access and a stylish look for lighter loads or urban shoots.

Both bags have well-thought-out compartments that protect delicate camera bodies and lenses. The padding is firm but not bulky, and the leather exterior resists wear and tear. These bags are not just functional but also make a statement for photographers who appreciate quality and design.

My Main Camera Setup in the Oberwerth messsenger bag:

The heart of my kit is the Leica M11, a camera known for its precision and image quality. I carry two Leica lenses with it:

  • Leica 28mm f/2.8 Elmarit: Great for street photography and landscapes, this lens offers sharpness and a classic wide-angle perspective.

  • Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summilux: Perfect for portraits and low-light situations, this lens delivers beautiful bokeh and excellent detail.

The small messenger bag holds the Leica M11 securely, with extra slot for the other lens. I also keep a few essential accessories here:

  • Lens cleaning kit

  • Extra battery

  • Memory cards

  • Leica Visoflex 2

  • Peak Design straps for comfort and quick adjustments

This setup allows me to be ready for a variety of shooting conditions without carrying unnecessary weight.

Travel Camera Gear in the Q Backpack:

For travel and more casual shooting, I rely on the Fuji X-E5. It’s lighter and more versatile for quick shots. The lenses I carry with it include:

  • XF 16-50mm f/2.8-4: A versatile zoom lens covering wide to short telephoto.

  • XF 35mm f/2: A compact prime lens ideal for street and portrait photography.

  • XF 60mm f/2.4 Macro: For close-up shots and details.

  • XF 100-400mm with 1.4x converter: For wildlife or distant subjects.

The Oberwerth Q bacpack fits this kit perfectly, with room for the camera body, lenses, and a few extras like:

  • Peak Design straps for comfort and quick adjustments

  • A lightweight aluminum tripod for stability on the go

  • Extra filters and lens caps

  • Sandik SSD drive for backup

  • Apple Macbook Pro

This bag’s design allows me to grab my camera quickly when inspiration strikes during travel.

Organizing Accessories and Support Gear

Beyond cameras and lenses, I carry several accessories that help me shoot efficiently:

  • Peak Design straps: These straps are comfortable and easy to adjust, reducing fatigue during long shoots.

  • Peak Design Aluminum tripod: Lightweight but sturdy, it fits well in the backpack or attaches to the messenger bag.

  • Filters: Circular polarizers and ND filters help control reflections and exposure in bright conditions.

  • Lens cleaning tools: A small blower, microfiber cloths, and cleaning solution keep lenses spotless.

  • Memory card case: Keeps cards organized and protected from damage.

Packing these items carefully ensures I never miss a shot due to lack of preparation.

Why Quality Bags Matter for Photographers

Investing in quality bags like Oberwerth means protecting expensive gear and making shooting more enjoyable. The leather exterior resists scratches and weather, while the interior compartments keep everything organized and accessible. Comfort is also key, especially when carrying gear for hours.

The design of these bags balances style and function, which is important for photographers who want to look professional and feel confident carrying their equipment. Whether hiking in nature or walking city streets, these bags support my workflow seamlessly.

The quality and design of these bags protect my investment and make carrying gear comfortable.
